STEEL PIPE COATING
PROCESS
Our production process for anti-corrosion coating is based on decades of experience in the steel pipe coating sector, combined with cutting-edge technologies and strict quality standards.
Thanks to highly customized extrusion plants, developed in close collaboration with leading machinery manufacturers, we precisely control all critical parameters, ensuring reliable, high-performance products designed for applications such as gas, oil, water, CO₂, and hydrogen transport, even under severe environmental conditions.

01.
Reactive Extrusion
In the field of steel pipe coatings, MPB use the reactive extrusion technology to functionalize polyolefins through the grafting of maleic anhydride onto the polymer matrix, thus obtaining high-performance adhesives that allow the protective outer layer to firmly adhere to the anticorrosive FBE (Fusion Bonded Epoxy) layer applied on the pipe.
Thanks to tailor-made extrusion lines and meticulous process parameter control – including base polymer selection, initiator type, and MAH content – MPB has developed adhesives capable of far exceeding the adhesion strength values required by the most demanding project specifications in the oil & gas industry.
02.
Maleic Anhydride
In coated pipe applications, maleic anhydride plays a crucial role as a functionalizing agent. Its highly reactive structure allows the production of modified polymers that ensure strong adhesion between the epoxy resin and the external protective layer, guaranteeing top performance even at high temperatures or in aggressive environments.
With over twenty years of know-how in handling maleic anhydride, MPB optimizes its integration to obtain materials suitable for the most stringent project specifications.

Compounding
MPB’s compounding activity use modern production lines with co-rotating twin-screw extruders, equipped with state-of-the-art technological features that ensure maximum product quality and repeatability.
Automation is maximized, as is attention to care and maintenance of the machinery.
Coloured compounds (white, yellow, and blue) are produced on dedicated equipment located in separate facilities, away from the area where black compounds are manufactured.
