COMPATIBILIZERS
PROCESS
Compatibilizers designed to improve adhesion between materials with different chemical characteristics, thanks to a precise and flexible production process built on decades of experience.
Our plants, designed according to specific needs, allow us to tailor the properties of the finished product, achieving effective chemical interaction between polymer matrices and materials such as glass fibers, mineral fillers, or wood flour.

01.
Reactive Extrusion
For the production of compatibilizers and coupling agents, MPB employs reactive extrusion technology to introduce the functional group of maleic anhydride into polyolefin matrices. This enhances compatibility between different polymer phases or, in the case of heterogeneous blends, between the polymer matrix and inorganic fillers.
With custom-designed extrusion lines and meticulous control of process parameters—including the choice of base polymer, type of initiator, and amount of MAH—MPB has developed compatibilizers and coupling agents with properties tailored for both structural and technical applications.
02.
Maleic Anhydride
In the context of compatibilizers, maleic anhydride acts as an interface between immiscible polymers or between polymers and inorganic fillers, promoting dispersion and adhesion at the microscopic level. MPB leverages its potential to produce highly performant and stable materials.
The optimization of MAH use, refined over more than twenty years of research, enables MPB to offer a wide range of compatibilizers suitable for different processing methods and applications.
